This felt like a letdown, comparable to what I experienced with Prometheus several years ago. The actions taken by the people in the story don’t make sense, and their reasons for doing things remain unclear. The science presented isn't believable. It doesn’t manage to be scary either. There's nothing distinctive about it; it lacks any wit, inventiveness, or genuine energy. The film struggles to give us a reason to care about the people involved, so all that’s left to wonder is who will die and when. There was one notion that seemed like it could have been something, having each person speak in their native language (though I don't understand why the Brazilian character wasn’t included!), but ultimately, this idea isn’t developed further. If you’re looking for something comparable but better, check out Europa Report, Event Horizon, Solaris – both versions – Cargo, and 2010.
