This is serviceable science fiction entertainment. The actors are appealing, there are a handful of unsettling scenes involving physical transformation, and the concept of an arm existing independently holds some intrigue. Unfortunately, the screenplay feels like a collection of standard elements that fails to fully capitalize on what’s promising about the film. A significant problem arises from the inclusion of scenes set on Earth—apparently added based on audience feedback—which feel disconnected from the main narrative unfolding in space. I appreciate the input of test audiences less because of this addition.
