This wasn't a good movie, I don’t think I’ll be revisiting it, and I can’t really suggest it unless you were completely obsessed with the first one. If Kurt Russell and the elves are what you enjoy most, then there's plenty of both to go around; unfortunately, those are precisely my least favorite aspects of the earlier film. The movie struggles to give proper attention to Darby Camp and Jahzir Bruno—these two characters really should have been central—and Julian Dennison (who played Fire Fist in "Deadpool 2") as Belsnickel… a Christmas figure I only know from “The Office,” and he wasn’t particularly memorable. It seems like the filmmakers saw the original film and felt that Kurt Russell had been overshadowed by a younger actor, so they made it their mission to prevent that from happening this time. All of the warmth and magical feeling that makes Christmas movies special gets lost in strange action scenes and a rather unpleasant New Zealander.
