It’s surprisingly decent! It’s odd, but has a certain appeal. *The Christmas Candle* definitely leans into the religious aspect, although I believe it manages to find a reasonable middle ground for most viewers... except perhaps with the ending, which is admittedly where they really go all-in. But as someone who doesn't believe in any of that stuff, I can still accept it because it functions adequately within the context of the movie itself. The actors are well-selected overall. Hans Matheson does a particularly good job in the main part, and James Cosmo provides solid support—as do Lesley Manville, Sylvester McCoy, and Samantha Barks. It was interesting to see Susan Boyle in her first acting role; she’s not really an actress, but her performance is acceptable – she's pleasant to watch, at least.
