I believe this film possesses the possibility of achieving classic status someday. A truly effective horror film taps into the anxieties that affect people’s lives currently and reveals a darker side to them, but without being overly explicit. This creates a sense of discomfort in viewers, even though they might not fully understand why. The best horror movies consistently manage this, and I think this one does an equally impressive job of connecting with a contemporary audience facing modern concerns. As is typical for horror films that utilize this approach—and all the successful ones do—this movie depends on establishing a foundation in the opening section, allowing viewers to connect with the characters and their ordinary struggles and relationships. Some might find this slow-paced (particularly audiences accustomed to rapid pacing), but it’s an essential setup for the final act where things will escalate dramatically. While the everyday troubles of a typical family might appear uninteresting or irrelevant to the frightening entity that ultimately appears, either figuratively or literally, they are actually deeply connected. In essence, any monster can be seen as a representation of the darker elements present in the issues explored at the beginning. The movie also incorporates references to occult practices, which is common in contemporary horror. However, unlike many other films in the genre, these aspects aren’t presented in a positive light and are shown with a degree of accuracy, although naturally, there's some artistic interpretation involved—which I think is appropriate. After all, if black magic were real, you wouldn’t want viewers inadvertently conjuring dark forces by repeating lines from a scary movie!
