The film brought to mind "Walk the Line" (2005) on several occasions. Didier, played by Johan Heldenbergh, is a folk musician who seems consumed by his own ego and his band’s ambitions. That changes when he meets Elise, portrayed by Veerle Baetens, a woman with deep religious convictions; they appear to be an unlikely match. Despite this, they do connect, and soon a baby arrives. He expresses reluctance about becoming a father, questioning whether he's prepared or even wants to take on the responsibility, but parenthood becomes their reality. From there, the narrative branches into separate storylines that explore the tragic events unfolding and how each of them handles the trauma they’re experiencing, both individually and together. The performances from both actors feel genuine as they initially follow a familiar pattern of relationship breakdown. However, as the story delves deeper into their personal lives, we begin to gain insight into the characters and understand their contrasting ways of coping with loss. His character's questioning of faith culminates in a powerful on-stage outburst that encapsulates his disbelief, and this level of strong writing is consistent throughout, conveying feelings of passion, disgust, as well as love. The film often uses close-up shots and incorporates dark humor, but ultimately it’s the final moments of intense emotion that make it worthwhile.
