Maggie Gyllenhaal seems to be attempting something specific with this film, but The Bride! ultimately feels overstuffed and fails to develop any of its elements effectively, even the romantic storyline is inconsistent. The concept of these two recently revived individuals finding no common ground gets lost amidst Frank’s excessive displays and the bride repeatedly asserting her status as a demanding and troublesome woman—something anyone with sight or hearing would notice. The Bride! comes across as a rambling ninety-minute collection of dancing and movie references.
