The film explores the experiences of a young boy growing up apart from society. The atmosphere strongly evokes 'Psycho,' and it felt as though it could have functioned well as a prequel depicting Norman Bates’s childhood. As a standalone story, however, it proved to be quite effective. The movie draws inspiration from a novel about a nine-year-old who manages a motel with his father in an isolated location. The narrative focuses on how the boy's behavior develops without social interaction in such a desolate and sparsely populated environment. I believe this film is remarkably realistic, although, as with any low-budget production, there are imperfections. Those prone to searching for logical consistency will likely find it difficult to appreciate even short films; instead, try setting aside your thoughts and immersing yourself in the story—you may then discover that you enjoy it. I’m not suggesting it will become a personal favorite, but the portrayal of events resonated with me, similar to the recent Austrian film 'Goodnight Mommy'. It's best categorized as a thriller-drama rather than horror; the unsettling subject matter might lead some to label it horror, though there are no supernatural or science fiction elements present. I found it to be a solid movie and feel that it deserves more recognition. The shifts in the storytelling were well executed, although somewhat foreseeable. I would be quite let down if the filmmaker didn't create a sequel. 6/10
