"Snatcher" seems set on earning himself a place among the town’s privileged citizens. This is because that status grants him access to the exclusive cheese tasting—something he clearly enjoys, even if the cheese isn't entirely receptive. However, "Lord Portley-Rind" refuses to cooperate until he’s assured they’ll be eliminating the sinister, baby-snatching box trolls. An agreement is reached, and along with his three assistants, he begins rounding up these unusual creatures that appear only at night. But are they truly as dangerous as he claims? Following one raid, we descend with "Eggs" and "Fish" into an underground cavern where the trolls reside. There, they exist as a close-knit community, supporting each other and living like box-shaped “Wombles,” diligently recycling. It’s also revealed that "Eggs" isn't actually a troll—though he might be the now-grown missing child (and perhaps even resembles Nicholas Hoult). What follows is an amusing and diverting conflict between those seeking to eradicate them and the dwindling number of trolls who must find a way to retaliate and reveal "Snatcher’s" strange double. The plot itself isn't groundbreaking, but the stop-motion animation is detailed and vibrant, featuring memorable characters that celebrate loyalty and friendship, with a subtle romantic thread woven throughout the consistently moving narrative. It's an enjoyable experience!
