This year’s "The Boogeyman" is rapidly becoming a top pick for horror films for me! While those accustomed to standard narratives won't find much that they haven't seen before, director Rob Savage significantly improves what could have been easily forgotten once the credits finish. The film features inventive and resourceful setups leading to genuinely tense moments, along with well-executed jump scares that feel fresh. However, the actors are really key to how well this movie works. I am at a loss for words when it comes to describing just how remarkable Sophie Thatcher, Chris Messina, and Vivien Lyra Blair (who is only 11 years old!) are; their performances were truly exceptional. If you enjoy horror movies, I suggest seeing this one in theaters. Rating: B+
