Denzel Washington’s portrayal of "Lincoln," a forensics specialist now dealing with quadriplegia and dangerous seizures, felt almost effortless; he seemingly didn't have to exert much effort. Concerned about the possibility of enduring a seizure in a state where he couldn’t fully recover, he had made arrangements for euthanasia. However, before that could happen, his former coworkers informed him about a disturbing string of murders involving taxi passengers who were being hijacked and killed in exceptionally brutal and cruel ways. He became interested in solving these crimes and partnered with the inexperienced Angelina Jolie, playing "Amelia," to figure out who was responsible for what appeared to be unrelated incidents. They quickly realized that the perpetrator was deliberately leaving behind clues, and when a man and his child were targeted, they found themselves in a desperate rush to reach them before it was too late. The film’s tension is most palpable during its initial fifty minutes, and both Washington and Jolie deliver commendable performances; however, the movie struggles to maintain that level of intensity and devolves into a fairly standard police procedural with a predictable trajectory that ultimately diminishes the impact of the ending.
