While pirates active roughly between 1650 and 1730 did utilize devices like "grenadoes"—an early form of hand grenade—they absolutely didn’t have firearms with magazines or revolvers. Revolvers weren't developed until the nineteenth century. Classifying this as a historical film feels disrespectful to actual history; it functions more accurately as a fantasy. Regarding female pirates, it’s true that women did participate in piracy, but they generally disguised themselves as men to avoid being dismissed or facing worse consequences during leadership roles. And for clarity's sake, Black individuals were indeed involved in piracy and often constituted the majority of pirate crews during the period’s peak.
