Several young men are found dead in a rural area close to London, their throats slashed and blood missing. A Scotland Yard inspector, portrayed by Peter Cushing, brings in a college entomologist, Robert Flemying, to help investigate the killings. Wanda Ventham takes on the role of Flemying’s daughter, while Vanessa Howard appears as Cushing's daughter. "The Blood Beast Terror," released in 1968, was made around the same time that residents of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, experienced what they called the Mothman terror in late 1966. Peter Cushing considered this to be his least favorite film and Robert Flemying did not enjoy working on it. Many members of the cast expressed dissatisfaction with the small, low-budget sets. Tigon produced a movie that’s simple and economical, but it's not entirely unpleasant. People who like Peter Cushing and British horror films from studios such as Hammer or Amicus might find something to enjoy here. One flaw is that the creature is shown too soon, even though initially seen at a distance; however, when it appears fully, it functions acceptably for what it is. There's also some confusion surrounding a character’s actions and his questionable experiments. I won’t elaborate further so as not to spoil anything. Wanda Ventham is quite attractive and has a strong presence; she happens to be the mother of Benedict Cumberbatch. Vanessa Howard, meanwhile, is appealing. The film's length is one hour and twenty-eight minutes, and filming took place at Goldhawk Studios in Shepherd’s Bush, London, as well as Grim's Dyke House in Old Redding, Harrow Weald, Middlesex (used for exterior shots of Clare House).
