My wife and I consider The Big Chill among our all-time favorites, even though quite a while has passed since we last saw it. We were so much younger when we first experienced it! It's been such a long time that until I came across a summary of the film on this site, I couldn’t have recalled any of the character names, but I could easily list several of the performers: Meg Tilly, William Hurt, Jeff Goldblum, Jobeth Williams, Kevin Kline, Mary Kay Place, and Glenn Close – all actors whose other work we've appreciated. The story isn’t particularly profound, even though it deals with a difficult subject like suicide; however, it is funny and entertaining, and it’s the kind of film that sticks with you, prompting you to quote lines from it in everyday situations, for example, when we are buying groceries and debating whether or not to buy something rich: “We have to think of the others,” and then put the item in our basket. That's really what the movie is like. Now that I’ve written about it, we should probably watch it again soon.
