This movie is genuinely unsettling. I’m still trying to figure out my thoughts on 'The Beguiled,' to be honest. It has to be among the strangest films I've encountered, and it seems that was the goal. However, I don’t know if I think it’s actually good; it succeeds in making you feel uneasy, but that's about all I can say. Stripping away the weirdness, there isn’t a lot left, at least in my opinion. That being said, it does stick with you and achieves what it set out to do, so perhaps it ends up being something worth seeing. Clint Eastwood delivers a performance that is almost unsettlingly believable, and the rest of the cast is good too – Geraldine Page and Mae Mercer particularly stood out for me. It's definitely unusual; you have to acknowledge that. I’m experiencing conflicting emotions about it, but I am tending towards a more positive view.
