The "Bad Guys" manage to make what should be an impenetrable place feel like something out of a child’s dream, and they playfully mock Police Chief “Luggins,” who appears unable – even with his vast number of officers – to apprehend them. Then comes Governor "Foxington," who openly scoffs at their success and challenges them to commit the ultimate crime: stealing the golden dolphin. What follows is something like a heist movie—a detailed plan for the theft as the five criminals carefully work out the logistics. The prize is meant to be given to “Professor Marmalade,” supposedly a symbol of goodness, but are things as they appear? Is that true of the governor too? These kinds of movies are common these days, and this one doesn't really stand apart. Occasionally, the lines exchanged are delivered at a brisk pace (particularly between the snake and the piranha); "Weaps"—the exceptionally agile tarantula—handles the technical aspects, and the animation is competent with plenty of action once things get going. However, the conclusion feels silly and rushed, and it’s surprising how many guinea pigs there are in existence! I watched this by myself on a large screen, but I believe it would be perfectly acceptable to view at home as well.
