It’s worthwhile to watch this short, largely because of its distinctive animation. The Backwater Gospel presents itself as a horror-satire that critiques established religion and the dishonesty frequently found within it. The story unfolds in a community populated by people who claim religious devotion, except for one person. Efforts to banish this individual from their quiet town inadvertently trigger the very outcome the residents were trying to prevent. The animation quality is excellent; there's considerable gore, numerous symbolic elements, and even an appealing folk tune. The short’s only real drawback is its brevity, but that limited length actually contributes to its impact. Take a look when you have free time.
