The premise sounded promising, and the idea seemed like it would be enjoyable—exactly the kind of silly Halloween movie you could watch without thinking too much about it. Some of the dialogue even worked well, fitting perfectly into that lighthearted, disposable Halloween vibe. However, I was left feeling really disappointed; it was truly terrible. Then I realized who directed it: McG. Suddenly everything clicked. It became clear that this was a movie that didn’t commit—not in a bold or inventive way, and not even with genuine humor. Instead, it just seemed to rush toward being unremarkable. Every opportunity the story had to become something special, every moment where the violence could have been genuinely shocking, every chance for real laughter...the director seemed to pull back. He avoided risks out of what appeared to be fear, and the outcome was…uninspired. Just “MEH,” in all caps. It’s a shame because it had the potential to be a fun Halloween indulgence, something like a low-budget Scream or an upscale Evil Dead. Instead, it's simply...meh. And what makes it worse is that this mediocrity stems from a lack of courage.
