John Goodman's portrayal of The Babe felt disjointed, as though he inhabited two separate personalities that never quite merged. It seemed like one version possessed real complexity while the other lacked any significant substance, and these versions shifted without connecting to create a unified figure. This inconsistency proved to be the film’s biggest shortcoming. There was no feeling of watching a continuous central character progress through the story; each scene presented a different person seemingly. The movie might have been worthwhile—even considering its departure from historical accounts—if the main character had remained consistent throughout.
