It’s rare for a film to evoke that sense of childlike wonder, and I believe Joss Whedon was precisely the right choice to direct this one. Each character is given ample opportunity to develop. The writing manages all the different storylines and moments with impressive skill; it's humorous, clever, and has some truly spectacular visuals. It certainly met the expectations built up by the anticipation for a fifth installment.
