To put it plainly, "The Amateur" feels like an endurance test—it’s frustratingly drawn out and, frankly, incredibly dull. There was potential here; what exists is fundamentally an action thriller. However, the protracted beginning, paired with a strangely restrained approach, results in a disappointing experience where the promised excitement and genuine action never truly materialize. This isn't due to any shortcomings on the part of the performers. Rami Malek delivers another believable and skilled performance. The issue, as I see it, is a flawed screenplay that clearly needed substantial revisions. Ultimately, while the underlying idea has merit, the final product is uninspired, excessively lengthy, and overly cautious. It’s hard to suggest watching this.
