Even though it shares similarities with _Back to the Future_, _The Adam Project_ manages to tell a unique story that is both entertaining and touching, centered on accepting oneself. The film begins impressively, immediately introducing us to the key players. There’s wonderful chemistry between the actors involved, which feels authentic and creates an immediate bond for both them and the people watching. Walker Scobell does a commendable job mimicking Ryan Reynolds, successfully convincing me that they are portraying the same person. This strong momentum continues until roughly halfway through when numerous characters and backstory elements are presented rapidly. That portion felt hurried, preventing viewers from developing much of an emotional investment in what’s being introduced. Zoe Saldana and Mark Ruffalo both perform well given their limited appearances; it was a pleasure to see them outside of their usual CGI costumes. The villain's presence became tiresome as the film progressed because her actions seemed somewhat contrived. The humor landed reasonably well, with me appreciating the boy’s quick wit and his exchanges with Reynolds, though some jokes didn’t quite work. However, that’s common in comedies.
