A Netflix review... Film Seen around March 27, 2022. It isn’t very likely to be released in cinemas; it was made for streaming. Ellie { Young Adam's Mom }: "This is the third time you've been suspended for fighting." Young Adam: "I know! You’d think I’d be better at it by now!!!" If you’re looking for a break from all the bad news and want to watch a movie that comes full circle in an enthralling, engaging, and heartwarming way, then I recommend “The Adam Project.” The only other cinematic experience I've had like that recently was "SpiderMan: No Way Home." It cleverly ties up loose ends within the entire Spiderman film series, going back as far as 2002. It’s also the last major blockbuster I reviewed before taking an unplanned but refreshing hiatus from reviewing for 101 days. If you thought Walker Scobell was a good dramatic actor, you're only half right. He’s also a terrific comedic talent with impeccable timing, especially considering this is his first movie or TV appearance. Combine Walker's fun performance with strong performances from the entire cast (Zoe Saldaña, Ryan Reynolds, Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner), add in fantastic CGI, a mindblowing finale, and fight choreography you have to see to believe—and you’ve got an exciting picture. It was funny! I hadn’t laughed so hard in a long time since watching "SpiderMan: No Way Home." On the downside, though, if I'm being honest, both the villain and his henchman are a little weak, as is the film’s title. Even something simple like “Flash-Back-Forward” would have been catchier, although I think I understand why they chose the name they did. These two things alone stopped me from giving it my trademark "25/10," which I reserve for movies that move me deeply. This film asks: If you could go back in time and talk to your younger self, what would you say? It resonated with me because I lost my father when I was 13. The movie has tender moments and does a phenomenal job of addressing estranged father-son relationships, especially in the USA, where this issue is possibly at epidemic levels due to high divorce rates and absentee fathers. Ryan Reynolds and Director Shawn Levy have done it again. Although this isn’t a Marvel movie, it stars several of Marvel's best actors and is ultimately a cinematic streaming marvel in its own right. I can’t give it my highest score, but it still earns a majestic, rock solid 13 marks out of 10 from me.
