This movie isn’t exceptional, but it delivers a straightforward experience, successfully blending suspenseful moments, romantic elements, and well-executed action sequences. I found myself quite pleased with the film as a whole; while not groundbreaking within the thriller genre, its narrative is engaging enough to hold your attention and prevent any sense of wasted time. The story centers on an autistic accountant who manages finances for a diverse range of criminals and mob figures. Predictably, this draws unwanted scrutiny from law enforcement, and as the police close in on their targets, the tension escalates and the action becomes more compelling. Gavin O’Connor's direction keeps the film moving without lulls, and the romantic storyline feels integrated rather than superfluous or disruptive. The tempo is well-managed; it isn’t rushed, yet remains consistently engaging. Technically, nothing particularly distinguishes itself beyond expectations, with the exception of the action sequences, which appear carefully planned and executed. It's a piece of entertainment that fulfills its promises in an uncomplicated way, avoiding both brilliance and memorability. Affleck provides a dependable lead performance, portraying a character who could easily be portrayed insensitively by a less skilled actor. I didn’t perceive any such issues, nor did it seem like he was acting excessively. Anna Kendrick and John Lithgow also contribute strong supporting performances.
