The film enlisted Forrest Tucker with hopes of attracting audiences to this genuinely eerie story about a Himalayan expedition. During their journey, "Friend" and scientist "Rollason" (Peter Cushing) find themselves facing local mysticism and something beyond what they anticipated. It's obvious that filming took place entirely within studio walls, and the artificial snow must have been easy to come by; however, Cushing consistently delivers in these somewhat oddball roles of a researcher. Tucker performs adequately given the lackluster writing, while Maureen Connell provides a bit more than is typical for female characters in this kind of adventure film. The lighting and sound design do contribute to an unsettling atmosphere, and I appreciated how the movie concluded. It’s low-budget and uncomplicated, but it remains enjoyable.
