I’m inclined to like an entire film populated by women, particularly given that I enjoy watching Chastain and Kruger—most of the time. There's some action and suspense present, certainly, but it feels so artificial; you might believe it came from a Chinese studio. Globalization really is something, isn’t it? The inclusion of what seems like a progressive viewpoint elevates things somewhat, at least providing a degree of substance. That substance largely turns out to be scorn, though. These actresses are appealing and engaging (with the exception of BingBing, who's simply unpleasant to look at and listen to), and I think they should support one another—it’s an interesting idea, anyway (support what? I’m not entirely clear). It would be much better if these characters felt believable for more than a brief period. If you set aside the plot, then everything is acceptable; everyone else performed well. It's baffling that anyone would produce an action film written like something a young person with little effort and their overbearing mother put together.
