The performers deliver commendable work, though regrettably, the rest of *'The 355'* doesn’t quite measure up. Jessica Chastain, Diane Kruger, Lupita Nyong'o, Penélope Cruz and Fan Bingbing are credited as producers, and each delivers a performance that I found enjoyable; none of them felt tedious or annoying to me. They represent the film’s strongest asset. It’s difficult for me to identify other strengths, though perhaps the camerawork could be considered one. I left feeling disappointed after seeing it. The latter portion really slows down, and this isn't helped by a particularly weak plot development. While the initial part has its flaws, there are moments of promise; things become more engaging once the central characters finally unite. The editing also feels somewhat uneven. There are numerous scenes consisting primarily of dialogue that don’t add anything worthwhile, especially those early on involving Chastain and Sebastian Stan. Things do pick up when the action arrives, though it's nothing remarkable—what we get is adequate; it’s the pauses between these moments that hold this 2022 film back. I give it a 6/10, despite the cast’s strong showing; they nearly convinced me to award it a 7/10.
