This movie offers an amusing but predictable take on Thanksgiving horror films. The initial portion, spanning about two-thirds of the runtime, is genuinely entertaining thanks to some humorous and graphic deaths alongside a cast of truly unpleasant characters. However, the film shifts gears noticeably in its final act, moving from lighthearted satire toward a darker, more intense style of horror that ultimately feels tedious. Even with these shortcomings, Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving seems promising enough to warrant future installments, which is something positive to appreciate.
