This movie has both positive and negative aspects. On the plus side, it’s a fantastic action film featuring a good cop pitted against an evil villain, and it’s earned awards for a reason. The story moves quickly, the writing is strong, the fight sequences are thrilling, and the romantic storyline feels developed and believable. Even though it's mainly a dramatic work, the director, Mohan Raja, incorporated typical Bollywood musical numbers for the romantic characters, with an amusing number featuring seven different outfits. We always pay attention to those! The film takes place within a corrupt Indian government system. The three main actors deliver excellent performances in their roles. However, the fast pace means subtitles flash by too quickly to even read them at full speed. The initial twenty to thirty minutes are dedicated entirely to backstory, which can be disorienting. Because it’s originally a Tamil film, we watched the Hindi-dubbed version, and that was somewhat distracting; regardless of whether you understand the language, it's obvious when the dialogue doesn't align with the actors' lip movements. We almost gave up on watching it, but we’re really glad we didn’t. Once the backstory concluded, things began to become clearer, and it proved to be a truly impressive action film—one of those clever, strategic conflicts that are enjoyable to watch.
