Terrifier proves to be an uneven experience. The graphic scenes are executed reasonably well, although they don’t occur often enough. Art the Clown embodies the role visually and in his actions; however, I felt he could have been more compelling—I believe giving him dialogue would have made him scarier instead of keeping him silent. This 2016 film was created with a very limited budget, which is noticeable throughout, but it deserves some credit for the filmmakers’ efforts. The acting quality isn't great, and the writing is pretty bad most of the time, though I can see how the former might be excused given the circumstances; however, the dialogue remains a drawback. I expect more from *Terrifier 2* and *Terrifier 3*, assuming they have larger budgets and all that entails. While I do respect this initial effort, it’s not something I'd consider particularly worthwhile to view.
