It’s an okay film, nothing I feel compelled to revisit, and I can’t really suggest that anyone see it. Initially, I imagined J.C. Reilly would be someone I'd want as a therapist, but his character comes across as uncomfortable, and there are some unsettling undertones to what he does. The central storyline concerns a young person dealing with difficult circumstances, yet these issues aren’t really confronted head-on. What unfolds is a series of disheartening events that closely reflect the emotional challenges often experienced during adolescence. The film simply stops abruptly at the end. It's too serious to be genuinely humorous and not well enough made to be a truly impactful drama. I don’t really think you should watch this, but if you do decide to, it isn’t entirely without merit; there are some decent parts.
