It isn’t exactly groundbreaking, yet I found myself liking this film. That probably says something about the appealing performance from Josafat Vagni, who plays the young man "Mattia." He is gay, and everyone around him seems to know it—except his own family. He repeatedly attempts to find the nerve to come out, but each time he’s close, something gets in the way. Then “Eduard” (Jose Dammert) enters the picture, and he's completely smitten. A simple answer, or so he believes! “Eduard” resides far from Rome, in Madrid, so there would be no need to involve anyone? Unfortunately, his boyfriend wants to meet his family—and he wants to present their relationship as something official. Will "Mattia" overcome his hesitation before it ruins everything? A comedic narration guides us through the story of this unfortunate young man, leading to a resolution that highlights how incredibly challenging it is to keep secrets, particularly from a close-knit family who are always watching and listening. Vagni possesses a certain appeal, which goes a long way toward making the film enjoyable as he navigates prejudice, silly misunderstandings, and hopefully finds happiness with his partner. It occasionally feels forced, and no, you won’t likely recall having seen it, but it's still pleasant enough to watch.
