This anime holds the spot as my absolute favorite. The animation is exceptional, using an unusual approach from a director originally from the United States who primarily works in Japan. It avoids the typical tropes of cute girls and muscular guys, which really grounds the story. The film explores themes of sadness, hopefulness, camaraderie, bravery, and fighting to stay alive—essentially, it's about life itself. Combined with incredible music by Plaid, this masterpiece is guaranteed to affect you emotionally in some way. Tekkon is a film everyone should experience, even those who aren’t fans of anime.
