Young women often possess an inherent sense of propriety. *Teeth* centers on the myth surrounding vagina dentata, a belief that some women harbor teeth within their vaginas. Dawn O’Keefe (played by Jess Wexler) is the focus—a pretty, unmarried adolescent who serves as a spokesperson for Christian abstinence. From an early age, it became apparent that something wasn't quite right with her. The film presents a compelling and intriguing concept that isn't fully realized to its greatest extent, but it incorporates dark humor, some uncomfortable prosthetic gore effects, and a strong performance from Wexler, allowing Mitchell Lichtenstein’s movie to avoid being entirely unremarkable. The filmmakers explore several not-so-subtle ideas, including female strength, general anxieties about sex, and the dangers of teenage impulses controlling behavior. There are also touches of fixation, religious questioning, and an examination of sorrow that grounds the tension surrounding hormonal issues. Fortunately, Lichtenstein avoids territory similar to *I Spit On Your Grave*, achieving a good balance for Dawn, who is a character struggling with numerous emotional difficulties; however, uncontrolled outbursts don't define her portrayal, nor does she become exaggerated or unrealistic. Consider it more of a genre blend than pure horror, and those who give it a chance will likely find it worthwhile. 6/10
