_Teacher_ is something of an unusual film. The cinematography isn’t particularly strong, and some performances felt lacking. David Dastmalchian was the exception; he really stood out, which wasn't entirely unexpected, though I hadn’t realized how much his talent had been held back by a lack of sufficient screen time in previous roles—at least, not in anything I’ve seen. While _Teacher_ does provide him with a chance to truly showcase himself, the movie’s central theme is bullying. The point it attempts to make isn't entirely clear, but it deals with how violence perpetuates itself and the decisions people face when they are trapped within that pattern. I'm not certain I share all of _Teacher_'s perspectives on this topic, but thankfully it doesn’t feel like an attempt to push a specific agenda, so disagreement doesn’t make it any less worthwhile. _Final rating:★★★ - I enjoyed it.
