It seems like films featuring people of color or women now inevitably spark accusations of racism and sexism. However, this movie… it’s not the absolute worst I've encountered, but that certainly doesn’t qualify as praise either. The basic idea is a collection of young adults messing around with tarot cards they shouldn't have been using, and then those cards become animated and begin killing people due to curses and angry spirits—plus, horoscopes and astrology are popular again, it seems. There’s nothing fresh or inventive about this; aside from one moment that startled me, the whole thing is pretty dull. The only positive aspect of the film is that it doesn't try to set up a sequel. It concludes with some lighthearted moments, and that's all there is to it—a relief, really. I gave up on *The First Omen* (2024) after about 25 minutes to watch this one, and I regret that decision. I should have just watched another episode of *FBI* instead. I’m hoping for some genuinely good horror movies this year.
