Considering how dated the special effects are, nearing 65 years old, this remains an enjoyable science fiction/horror film. John Agar portrays a scientist investigating a giant spider causing problems for a town in Arizona. Leo G. Carroll, with increasingly noticeable makeup reminiscent of "The Elephant Man," and Mara Corday contribute to keeping Jack Arnold’s movie flowing at a good pace. The musical score by Herman Stein feels somewhat unoriginal but also builds suspense as the characters try to prevent the spider from drying up everything it encounters.
