It’s not terrible for a Disney Channel continuation. The animation in *Tangled: Before Ever After* resembles that of *The Lion Guard* films—the *Lion King* sequel series—and, when put up against those, this 2017 release is better. The animation quality isn't great, but it gets the job done. I was glad to see the original movie’s cast return; that’s definitely a plus. Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi are satisfactory in their roles, but Eden Espinosa (Cassandra) and Laura Benanti (Lady Caine)’s characters don’t stand out much—they're pretty standard. However, I can’t really criticize it too harshly because the intended viewers will likely enjoy it, and ultimately, it’s one of Disney’s better animated sequels made for television or direct-to-video release.
