A film centered around a single day occurring on Christmas Eve in Los Angeles is remarkably well-executed. It’s hard to believe this was created with an iPhone 5s; it's certainly not the product of a typical film school exercise. The production quality is impressive, and everyone involved delivers strong performances. I haven’t encountered another depiction of a transgender story that felt so authentic—I don't mean any disrespect by saying that, but it was strikingly genuine. My respect goes to the director, writer, and actors. There was discussion last year regarding possible Oscar recognition for this film, though ultimately it didn’t receive a nomination. I had lost track of it after that point, but recently got the chance to view it and found myself enjoying it considerably. The way such a straightforward narrative and its uncomplicated characters unfolded were particularly noteworthy. It's impossible to anticipate what will happen next; each development feels unexpected. The majority of the film is set during evening hours, which explains the sky’s color reflected in the title. I doubt many people would find this film unpleasant. While it moves at a deliberate pace, it remains brief and enjoyable. It stands out as one of the best films from 2015. You should definitely consider watching it for its distinctive approach to filmmaking and storytelling; furthermore, it’s also entertaining, which provides another reason to give it a try. _7/10_
