I really enjoyed TAMMY, though it seems my sense of humor differs from many others. I don’t understand all the negativity surrounding this movie. The performers were nominated for worst actress and supporting actress at the Razzie Awards; however, I thought they were great. You can't fault the actors for a weak plot, because while the script itself was passable, it didn't help to create something better. It’s difficult to anticipate what will happen next, even though you generally have an idea of where the story is going—and that difference is key to this film. Just remember when deciding whether or not to watch it that it’s a low-budget comedy and not something like a James Bond film or a Peter Jackson production. Manage your expectations about what the movie offers, and you probably won't be disappointed that you watched it. Melissa McCarthy was naturally excellent in her role, but Susan Sarandon also delivered a surprisingly good performance. It was simply an enjoyable road trip movie, mostly resembling real life, although who knows—maybe there are people just like these characters out there. As I mentioned, the story had all the elements of a good comedy except that one serious scene at the end should have been handled differently. I would have preferred an unexpected turn of events; something like that could have made a big difference in the movie's success. Anyone with an open mind can appreciate it. I’m already looking forward to the next film from this same team, which is supposed to be released early next year. P.S., there seems to be a recurring theme between Melissa McCarthy and prison settings; she will also appear in a prison in that upcoming movie. 6/10
