The considerable buzz surrounding "Talk to Me" from film festivals and early responses proves justified; it’s easily among the most frightening horror movies in a while. The movie boasts remarkable physical effects, excellent makeup work, captivating performances—Sophie Wilde is particularly noteworthy—and the handling of genuinely disturbing, bloody, and unexpected violent scenes is flawless. While the story itself isn't groundbreaking within the realm of films about characters possessed by spirits, and some potentially significant ideas aren’t fully developed, it remains a horror film that absolutely demands to be seen this year. Keep an eye out for Danny and Michael Philippou.
