A collection of young people finds themselves controlled by the unlikeable "Hayley" (Zoe Terakes), and they’re given a ceramic hand—said to contain an actual one—that serves as a doorway to a realm populated by spirits. The kids learn that there's a time restriction, but if they go beyond it, they enter dangerous territory. After their friend "Jade" (Alexandra Jensen) tries it out, “Mia” (Sophie Wilde) follows, and through a strange, deeply personal connection, becomes drawn to the experience. She then starts enabling something disruptive within their group, especially impacting young "Riley" (Joe Bird), who requires compensation—and some downtime. Sophie Wilde delivers a solid performance; while the other acting isn’t consistently strong, the story feels fresh, offering something new to a genre that has been weighed down by repetitive narratives. Joe Bird stands out as the best performer, even though he's mostly sidelined, and Terakes portrays a character who is genuinely irritating. There’s an excess of spoken lines, and the soundtrack is quite prominent, which became tiresome at times, but it manages to be frightening at points and is certainly something you could enjoy watching on television around Halloween.
