This is truly unlike anything else I've encountered, particularly concerning the narrative and Benigno's actions. While what he did was undeniably terrible, I still experienced a sense of sadness for him. It's such an affecting story, and I appreciated how the friendship developed, even though I didn’t connect with the writer or matador characters. I found myself completely engrossed in watching it at Sundance, right up until the very end—that partner dance sequence before the credits felt jarring. Perhaps the music was to blame. And then there's Paz Vega’s silent film in black and white; the concept of a shrinking man entering her… physically!
