This movie is very much in the style of Oliver Stone—and that’s meant as a compliment. The main character resembles someone like Glenn Beck: he’s got strong opinions, can be aggressive, and seems driven by ratings, yet Stone handles him with surprising evenhandedness. It's remarkable how fairly everyone is portrayed, extending to even the Neo-Nazis within the story. This is the same filmmaker who once managed to make Nixon appear sympathetic and gave W a balanced perspective. Even those expressing hateful views are depicted as people, which is something to appreciate; another director would likely have reduced them to predictable caricatures lacking any depth. Ultimately, it’s an exceptionally original film that feels remarkably candid and impartial, even considering Stone's involvement. It deserves far more recognition than it has received.
