Angelina Jolie gives a decent performance, and Ethan Hawke brings in a small amount of threat, though generally speaking, this crime thriller located in Montreal feels stretched thin. "Martin Asher" abandons his residence and, through the methodical killing of men as he grows older—and taking on their identities—has created a significant number of deaths spanning nearly two decades, before FBI agent Jolie is brought in to assist in uncovering the truth. The performances are acceptable for the most part, but appearances from Kiefer Sutherland, Gena Rowlands, and what seems like Justin Chatwin’s shortest role ever don't manage to elevate the lackluster script or add any real energy as things progress toward a conclusion that is simply absurd. The premise itself possesses some intricacy and enough elements to maintain curiosity, yet the way it's presented falls short and becomes fairly dull after roughly ten minutes. It’s unfortunate—there was promise here.
