It didn’t quite spark the revitalization of revenge films that some people claim it did, but it was still enjoyable to watch. _Taken_ certainly relies on familiar tropes, and those clichés are apparent almost immediately. Within just a few minutes, we learn that Neeson's character is separated from his wife, who has moved on with a well-off husband—a man of intellect, perhaps, but not someone who could handle himself physically. The gift he gave to his daughter reflects an interest she’s no longer pursuing. However, the action sequences themselves are quite good. _Final rating:★★★ - I liked it. I'd suggest checking it out._
