It’s an excellent action and thriller film, easily justifying its 7.9 rating on IMDb. Those who have given it extremely low scores appear to be upset about seeing French government officials depicted as corrupt – a portrayal that isn't entirely inaccurate. I’m usually a fan of Liam Neeson, so his presence in the movie immediately made me feel positive toward it. He portrays a tough character—a former CIA agent who delivers brutal justice to anyone obstructing his search for the kidnapper of his daughter. I found his performance particularly enjoyable. It makes even characters like Bourne seem mild by comparison. I was taken aback when he shot the wife of one of those corrupt French officials to get information; that moment was fantastic. The movie is almost entirely focused on action sequences. Initially, it establishes the story and shows Neeson as a somewhat hesitant father who seems overwhelmed. However, once he’s in his element, he sheds his mild exterior and reveals a more ferocious side. This feels like a classic example of an action/thriller film, and it's a very entertaining ninety minutes.
