Those who appreciate Nicolas Cage’s work will likely find _Sympathy for the Devil_ enjoyable. The performance he gives as the passenger echoes Castor Troy from _Face/Off_, but with elements of Frank Booth in _Blue Velvet_; it's a portrayal that is completely and consistently erratic, showcasing a disturbing capacity for violence. His scenes alongside Joel Kinnaman are also interesting to watch. Cage dominates their dynamic, delivering the most impactful moments, while Kinnaman skillfully avoids direct confrontation; he emerges as something of an understated standout in their exchanges. However, the film's narrative feels awkward and poorly constructed. It seems that a significant portion of the writing effort was dedicated solely to bringing these two characters together. The movie begins to stumble when it attempts to explore the reasons behind each character’s actions.
