As “Ben” (Cooper Koch) prepares to leave for the city to pursue his career as a gay performer, his friend “Dom” (Jose Colon) comes up with an idea to help him earn some money. However, when they encounter “Alice” (Jena Malone), they aren’t thrilled with her suggestion. She's straightforward and direct, so before long these two are in possession of something that everyone hopes won’t be discovered by border officials on their way to Canada. A brief stop at a restroom leads to complications for “Dom,” and then “Alice” reappears to rescue him, taking them to an isolated woodland cabin where they run into their outrageously flamboyant employer “Rich” (Mark Patton), who reveals that what they ingested isn’t exactly what they believed it was! By this point, poor “Dom” is struggling to get rid of the packages on his own, so “Ben” has to pretend to be James Herriot as stress builds and he starts to question whether he'll make it through this situation. The film is a bizarre experience, but I did appreciate the final thirty minutes, watching Koch saunter through the woods in just his underwear while being chased by something resembling a pink panther that might have embarrassed Blake Edwards. There’s nudity present, and unlike many films, it isn’t hidden behind props; Colon certainly commits to his role! It could have been more of a horror film, but that aspect feels underdeveloped as the plot ultimately falls flat. Still, I've witnessed so much dull and uninspired "cabin in the woods" style storytelling—including the only other gay-themed movie “Knock at the Cabin” (2023) that comes to mind—that this one actually stands out quite nicely with its appealing visuals. The acting is decent; Malone does a reasonable job as the tough dealer, and Patton’s performance is intentionally over-the-top, but ultimately it's about the young men, and they deliver!
