The film began with some intriguing ideas, similar to what the preview suggested: how do superheroes affect politics? Should they remain impartial? Do they represent nations? It’s a thought-provoking theme often explored in darker superhero stories. However, these concepts weren't really developed after the plot moved on to imprisoning Superman. Most of the movie felt like standard superhero fare for me, but it lacked many of the exciting elements found in other films of the genre. It wasn’t a terrible film; the action sequences were enjoyable, and I appreciated some of the supporting characters, particularly Mister Terrific and Green Lantern Guy Gardner. I had two main issues with this movie. First, it failed to elicit any laughs. While humor isn't essential in every film—*Thor* certainly went too far—every attempt at comedy fell flat for me. Krypto felt like a frivolous addition; as much as I enjoy dogs, his presence seemed purely for the sake of silly animal antics. More importantly, though: Every superhero movie requires some degree of accepting things without question. It's common to spot plot holes later – moments where you think, "If character y had just done z, situation x wouldn’t have happened!" Usually, this doesn't matter because the action and emotion keep your attention. But this film was full of instances where I questioned whether the filmmakers were even serious about what they were presenting. The Engineer repeatedly bisected enemies but left Krypto unharmed for no apparent reason, apparently so that the story could continue later? The Fortress of Solitude only had melee robots for defense? Superman summoned Krypto during his fight with Ultraman at the last possible second, when Krypto had been just wandering around beforehand. Wouldn't it have made sense to utilize him earlier in the battle? And Luthor used obvious camera drones to control Ultraman, something Superman didn’t notice until near the end? Worst of all: Lex Luthor's plan for a global invasion involving warring countries was thwarted simply because Superman asked other superheroes for assistance. His strategy seemed to be “distract or defeat Superman, and then I can do whatever I want.” In a world with hundreds of superheroes—three or four in that city alone—he essentially gambled on them all being politically neutral except for Superman? It’s frustrating; there were too many illogical moments that stood out even while watching the movie, not just when reflecting on it afterward. I recently read the DC x Sonic the Hedgehog comic, and honestly, that had a better story. So, yeah. Some cool superhero action, but the rest of the plot didn’t really grab me. I did like Mister Terrific and Guy Gardner, though. I'd be interested in seeing a "Justice Gang" movie!
